Hello everyone! Etta James (Jamesetta Hawkins) was an American singer. Her style included a variety of music genres like soul, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, gospel and jazz. She started her career in the 50s. She is the winner of six Grammys and 17 Blues Music Awards. She has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Blues Hall of Fame, and the Grammy Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone ranked James number 22 on their list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number 62 on the list of the 100 Greatest Artists. James has influenced a wide variety of American musicians including Diana Ross, Christina Aguilera, Janis Joplin, Hayley Williams (Paramore) as well as British artists The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Amy Winehouse, Adele and more. She passed away last January.
