Bob Dylan is an American musician and singer-songwriter. He has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades. A number of Dylan’s early songs, such as “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin'”, became anthems for the US civil rightsand anti-war movements. His recording career, spanning fifty years, has explored many of the traditions in American song—from folk, blues and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz and swing. Dylan’s lyrics have incorporated a variety of political, social, philosophical, biblical and literary influences. As a songwriter and musician, Dylan has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and received numerous awards over the years (Grammy, Golden Globe, and Academy Awards); he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. They became the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. The Beatles built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over a three-year period from 1960. They acquired the nickname the “Fab Four” as Beatlemania grew in Britain over the following year, and by early 1964 they had become international stars, leading the “British Invasion” of the United States pop market. Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971, originally consisting of Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano, guitar), Brian May (guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar, guitars), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Queen enjoyed success in the UK with their debut and its follow-up, Queen II (1974), but it was the release of Sheer Heart Attack (1974) and A Night at the Opera (1975) that gained the band international success. The latter featured “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which stayed at number one in the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks; it charted at number one in several other territories, and gave the band their first top ten hit on the US Billboard Hot 100. Their 1977 album, News of the World, contained two of rock’s most recognisable anthems, “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions”.In 1991, Mercury died of bronchopneumonia, a complication of AIDS, and Deacon retired in 1997.
